First Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) October 2019, The Netherlands
After a long period of time writing/waiting/hoping we finally got the fantastic news that our project was approved! This is a big deal we have achieved; this is the only school-based application for the KA201, approved in the past 3 years! Mostly this money goes to Universities or local governments but this time we have the opportunity to create something unique! And this project has the potential to become something beautiful. All of us we see more and more inequality under students and with these uneven changes in life. This project can be a first step dealing with these problems. We have chosen to use health as the theme to focus on. Health is such an important part of life perhaps even the most important one. A good health makes you happier, gives more opportunities for self-development and ensures you a better change to be part of society. In today’s society having a healthy lifestyle isn’t a guaranty. Despite the overwhelming amount of available knowledge that allows us to live healthily, there are still too many people having an unhealthy lifestyle. This is especially evident among people with a lower socio-economic status. We also see that when someone grows up in a family where a healthy lifestyle is given little priority, that person often also takes on an unhealthy lifestyle. Schools can play a key role in changing this behavior. And our HILS project can provide schools with insights and guidance in how to do so. Our group composition with on the one hand schools from all different regions of Europe, and on the other hand professional health organisations, gives the HILS project every opportunity to become a huge success. I hope that this success means that all students have a better chance of a healthy lifestyle, and with this a better chance of a bright future. I am very excited to work with you all on this. let's create something wonderful for our organisations, our communities, our self and far most for our students.
First Mobility, LTTA Well-Being, Mental Health and Mindfulness, December 2019, Slovenia
Report from one of our students that visited this LTTA:
I participated an exchange program in Slovenia. I was in Benedikt, a town in Slovenia, for one week (from the 8th of December until the 14th of December). I loved the time that I have spent there.
In this exchange program were children from 8 countries (Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom) involved. The theme of this program was ‘Well- being and mental health’. We had a lot of sessions where I learned lots of tricks. Par example: eat a little snack before you go to bed, draw circles on a piece of paper without removing the pen from the paper. I thinks those tricks are very useful and funny to do. I also learned how smells can make people feel happy. I had never heard of that before, but what a smell can do to a person is wonderful. There were also many presentations who were very interesting. Unfortunately the presentations where quit long (one/two hours). I find it hard to listen and focus for such a long time. We also visited cultural places. I really loved them! We saw a lot of typical Slovenian buildings and landscapes. First, we went to the Predjama castle with a guided tour. It was a beautiful castle in a sort of mountain. After that, we went to the Expo Cave Karst. There was a lot of information about the human fish. That is a fish with characteristics of a human. Thereafter, we went to the Postojna Cave. We had a guided tour and we drove through it with a sort of train. What a special experience! At Last, we went to Ptuj, the oldest town of Slovenia. I was a bit nervous at the beginning of this exchange program, but I felt more comfortable after each day. What I loved the most from this exchange program were the conversations that I had with the other people. I talked to almost everyone and I enjoyed it so much! It was also funny to hear all those different English accents in one conversation. I still have contact witch a few of the children. The time that I had with my host family was amazing as well. They were so nice and sweet to me. They did a really good job! I will never forget this amazing experience. I still miss Slovenia and everyone who participated every day. I can’t wait to see everyone again!

Second Mobility, LTTA Exercise and Sport, February 2020, Spain
Report from one of our students that visited this LTTA:
Hils project: Alicante
My school organized a big exchange project between several countries, one of the countries was Spain with the subject: “exercise and health”. I thought it would be fun and educational to participate. So, I wrote a motivation letter with my reasons to go. I got chosen and had an amazing week in Alicante in Spain.
Sunday:
Our plane left at 2 o’clock so we needed to be at the airport at 12 o’clock. In the weeks before the group met in the breaks to talk about the things we needed to prepare. So the group already knew each other a little bit. I already knew Emma because we’ve had sport classes together. Everybody was very excited, and it was a good flight. After we landed, we got to meet our host families. I already texted with my host and fortunately she was super nice. After we had put all my stuff in their house, we went to the beach to picknick. I saw Roos (also from the Netherlands) standing with her host so we spend the night together at the beach. There were also other people with their hosts at beach who joint us.
Monday:
We needed to be at school by 8 o’clock. We started with the wake-up games, which are games you do in teams and you try to get as many points as possible. After the wake-up games each country gave a presentation about the sport possibilities at their schools. In the afternoon we got a yoga lesson, we needed to do all different kinds off exercises. When we finished a big part of the group went to the beach, which was a lot of fun.
Tuesday:
We needed to be at school at 8 o’clock again. After the wake-up games were finished, we took the bus to The Ocean Race museum. Which was very interesting. I learned about the history of the race but also about the way the race goes. Further we got to see inside a race boat. When everyone was finished in the museum, we went to the beach where we went sailing and canoeing. This where the activities I liked the most from the whole week. That afternoon we went to the house of the host of Emma (from the Netherlands).
Wednesday:
We needed to be at school at 8 o’clock just like the other days. After the wake-up games, we took the bus to the blind institution. First we got a presentation about the institution and then we did a game called ‘ roll ball’ where you needed to put on blind glasses and roll the ball which made a sound to the goal of the other team who needed to stop the ball which they can only hear. We also got glasses where you can see almost nothing true and then you needed to walk around with someone without the glasses who needed to tell you what you needed to do. When we got back on the school, we got a workshop teambuilding. After that I went visiting the father off my host.
Thursday:
We were at school at 8 o’clock and we needed to prepare a game for Friday. Then we took the bus to park Font Rodja where we were going to hike. There was a very beautiful view. After we finished hiking, we were going to eat at a restaurant with the group which was delicious. Back on school we got another workshop teambuilding. In the evening we went to the bowling centre what I enjoyed.
Friday:
At 8 o’clock we needed to teach and play our prepared games with the other teams. Then we went to the park where we needed to do a kind of scavenger hunt. We needed to find cards with the symbol of an Olympic or Paralympic sport and then write down which sport this was. In the afternoon we got a salsa workshop which I really liked to do. In the evening we went to the beach to eat waffle’s and then went to the hotel where the farewell party was. It was very nice but when I needed to go, I had to say goodbye to the most off the people, what I really hated.
Saturday:
This was sadly the last day so had to say goodbye to everyone (who I saw this day) this time. We took the tram to the shopping centre after we said goodbye to our hosts. We stayed there till 2o’clock and then we took the bus to the airport, where we saw the Slovenia people, so we needed to say goodbye to them too. Our flight went at 5 o’clock but it wasn’t a fun flight, I was tired and didn’t want to go home, but I was happy to see my family again.
It was an amazing week in Spain where I met a lot of nice people and learnt a lot. And even though I hated to say goodbye, I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.

ONLINE LTTA (3)
The topic of this online LTTA was health during the Corona pandemic. We had several speakers and workshops from different countries teaching our students and staff valuable lessons in how to stay healthy during a lockdown. Examples of this were at home sports-activities, a workshop in body image and a cooking workshop of world famous and also world champion pastry chef Johanna Le Pape, who teaches us to make healthy pastries. We focused the topics of this online mobility on the topics of canceled LTTA’s so we could maximize the output of the whole HILS project.
4th LTTA Floridia Italy
In April the 4th Hils project LTTA was held in Floridia Italy. Health, safety and environment was the topic of this mobility. The main focus of the activities such as presentations, workshops, visits and assignments where all situated around this topic. We visited beaches with environmental protection, had readings about how to keep the environment healthy and spoke about dangers in your environment for your health, like hard sounds and how to protect you from these. The students worked in international groups to create idea’s and presentations about different aspects of this topic and how to deal with it. They presented their results in a plenary meeting.
5th LTTA Ede The Netherlands
HILS-project 2022 the Netherlands
From the fifth until the 11th of June, 55 students from seven countries came to Ede. They all arrived at Pallas Athene College, were their Dutch hosts picked them up. I, Annemarijn, was the host of a French girl named Valentine. I gave her my room and saved space in my closet which she could use. There was a bit of a delay at the train station, but eventually she arrived at Pallas where me and my mom picked her up. Arrived at home, she ate dinner, and we played a board game with the family.
On Monday we tried different dicycles and we ended up using my sister’s and my mom’s to cycle to school. At school, all countries presented their school. The Dutch presentation existed of a treasure hunt. Me and other Dutch students who helped organising stood somewhere in the school to tell something about the location and about the school. After the treasure hunt, we went to the creation location where others tried to draw a portray of me. Later, we went to the PE rooms and played games were working together was the key to success. At the end of the day, we ate French fries with a Dutch snack: kroket, frikandel or a kaassoufflé. When the program finished at school, I went to Utrecht with a few classmates and their exchange students. It was raining all day, so we went shopping in a shopping mall. Some of us even stayed to have dinner at Five Guys.
On Tuesday morning the Dutch health care centre (GGD) gave an interactive presentation. We played kahoot in teams and I was in the winning team! The price was even better… stroopwafels. When the presentation finished, all students gathered at the bus to drive to the Kröller-Müller Museum, Park de Hoge Veluwe and Museonder. In the park we cycled on white bikes to the museums. At the Kröller-Müller Museum, all students divided into small groups. My small group first visited the sculpture garden and later the Vincent van Gogh gallery. After the lunch break, we followed a guided tour through the park and ended the day with a visit at the Museonder. What I liked the most that day was when I cycled with a small group to a place where we watched deer. When Valentine and I arrived at home, we quickly eat dinner and changed into sport outfits. My father drove us to my volleyball club where we played a ‘whippedcreamtournament.’ It was a big tournament of five teams mixing up and paying small matches. At the end everyone ate whipped cream cake.
On Wednesday, all students drove to Nijmegen with the bus. First, we took a group picture and then Ida and I explained the rules of the Crazy 88. This is a game with eighty-eight small assignments which you must complete. The group who completed the most assignments wins. The four judges, including me, decides who won and told the group that they had free time until dinner. I joined a group with French people and went shopping. One of the shops we visited was the Dutch warehouse HEMA. We bought tompoucen and something to drink. Then, we bought kibbeling at a fish food truck. We went to a couple other stores and then returned to the pancake boat. Various kinds of toppings could be sprinkled on the pancakes. Transformed into little child’s, we entered the ball pit. When Valentine and I arrived at home, we played the game who is it? and the game dobble.
Tuesday was a fun day as well. We cycled from school to Cultura where booths were settled for every country, and presentations were given. I enjoyed playing games at the booths. When I came home, me and Valentine watched the movie Jumanji. We drank a Dutch soda called cassis. After watching the movie, we changed and went to the BBQ. When we finished, Hester and I changed into dresses and handed in our phones for the Hollywood party. It was the best school part I have ever been.
Friday was one of my favourite days. We started the day with sailing. I was on a boat with Ida, Berber, Cloe, Britt, and Hester and had the most fun. We brought a music box and I even helped sailing the boat. When we arrived back at school, Valentine and I cycled all the way to de Rijn (a river). There we ate pizza with all my classmates who participated in the program and their exchange students. We swam, danced, ate pizza, and talked. I remember laughing a lot.
Saturday was the day we needed to say goodbye. We drove to the teacher’s hotel and waved goodbye to our new friends.
I have enjoyed every moment of the week!
